Not long ago, the online DVD rental market was new and exciting. You no longer had to drive to your local video store and look for movie to watch. Instead you could simply browse thousands of titles online, and have them shipped directly to your mailbox. Now, as people want more instant gratification, waiting a day or two for a movie to arrive in the mail is too long to wait. So now a new market is emerging to help meet the demand of film lovers who want their movies quicker as well as cheaper.
That market is the DVD kiosk rental market. DVD kiosks, which are essentially vending machines, are placed in many different locations where potential renters will likely be anyways. They can be found inside retail stores, malls, fast food restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, as well as hotel and office building lobbies. With so many kiosks stationed all around the country in various places, the people who own them will not be able to service them in a timely manner should one need repairs. Due to the nature of the job, as it deals with repair work and problems can pop up unexpectedly at any time, repair technicians will sometimes be on call and must be able to respond to calls outside of the typical working hours. Since DVD kiosk repair technicians will be working on their own without a boss present, they must be self motivated and be able to work independently. It would also be beneficial to have a background in repair and maintenance work, in addition to computer skills, as the kiosks rely heavily on software.
